Larch trail

One of the most attractive family itineraries departing from San Cassiano, the Larch trail starts immediately from the doors of your Hotel La Stüa. After leaving the Hotel, walk uphill to the locality Rü, then on your left between two fences you’ll find trail no. 15 that will take you through Alpine meadows and larch forests towards locality Rüdiferia.

The trail is an unpaved path of approx. 5 km, evident and well-marked, without steep ascents and descents, that passes above the village of San Cassiano on the outskirts of the Nature Park Fanes-Sennes-Prags, offering spectacular views of the village, of the Sella Group and of the surrounding peaks of Lagazuoi, Conturines, Lavarella and Sasso della Croce that sometimes at sunset turn ablaze with fiery red colours caused by the phenomenon of enrosadira. The route has also an education value: along the trail you will find some typical mountain constructions like, for example, traditional wooden fences, dry stone walls and a watermill. Besides, the route is equipped with notice boards containing information about the local flora, fauna and geology.
