Cycling over the passes of the Dolomites
The famous Maratona dles Dolomites (Marathon of the Dolomites) always takes place in the beginning of the summer season and attracts thousands of cyclists from all over the world. The Marathon offers three trails, all starting from La Villa and finishing in Corvara: the shortest one, the tour of Sellaronda, is performed on the itinerary of 55 km around the massif of Sella, while the longest one, the Marathon trail, extends on 138 km with the elevation gain of 4230 m. A real challenge even for the most experienced cyclists!

A festival in San Cassiano for kids and adults
Every second Wednesday from the middle of July till the end of August San Cassiano hosts a festival! Starting from 4 p.m. the pedestrian centre of the village turns into a stage for music bands, local craftsmen, farmers selling their products and many others. Enjoy the entertainment for kids and adults, while in the central square you can taste various traditional dishes of Alta Badia. There is one evening in August when all the light in the centre of San Cassiano goes off, but it’s not a power cut – it’s a magical candlelight evening. All the buildings and streets in the village centre get illuminated by candles and torches. Street performers and light acoustic music enhance the enchanting effect.

Every December the spirit of competition spreads through entire Alta Badia, but the epicentre of the sports euphoria lies on the legendary slope Gran Risa, a breath-taking run from Piz la Ila to the village of La Villa, that every year hosts the World cup of men’s giant slalom and night parallel giant slalom.

At the beginning of December the spirit of Christmas comes to San Cassiano turning the pedestrian centre into a Christmas fairy-tale. Every day until the 6th of January, from 4 p.m. till 7 p.m., the picturesque Christmas market in the heart of San Cassiano offers you ideas for presents, traditional decorations, typical desserts, including the Christmas Star, a sweet symbol of the market, created by the Michelin starred chef Norbert Niederkofler. A spectacular ski show in the central square of San Cassiano
One frosty February evening in the central square of San Cassiano, right in front of the church, appears, like by magic… a ski slope! Admire the stunning show dedicated to the skiing history in the Dolomites performed by the Alpine ski gurus of the Ski & Snowboard School San Cassiano. The very first skis, the predecessors of snowcats, the old skiing techniques are combined during the show with the impressive modern freestyle performance. Enjoy the musical entertainment and welcome a special guest!
