Hiking in Alta Badia
Explore the Dolomites starting from San Cassiano
Alta Badia features more than 400 km of paths that wind through woods and fields, across the Nature Parks Fanes-Sennes-Prags and Puez-Geisler, on the plateau between Piz Sorega, Piz la Ila, Col Alto and Pralongià, from where the gaze sweeps from the glacier of Marmolada (3,343 m a.s.l.), the Queen of the Dolomites, over to the Central Alps on the border with Austria.
From the end of June till the end of September 15 modern mountain lifts, united by Alta Badia Summer pass, let hikers easily reach the most distant and panoramic spots. Besides, the convenient location of Alta Badia also allows to explore the other fascinating valleys of the Dolomites, such as the Ampezzo Valley, the Livinallongo Valley, Val Gardena and Alta Pusteria, all of which are accessible with a single Dolomiti Super Summer Pass.
The various hiking options in the area range from the easy and well-marked trails with a moderate elevation gain, suitable for the whole family, to long and technically complicated routes to satisfy the most experienced trekkers. Here are some of the numerous trails that can be reached from San Cassiano.
